Bettamatic Automatic Betta Feeder is an easy to use feeder that will allow you to feed your Betta Fish while you are away, or use it to feed your fish automatically once daily. Note: This feeder works with small pellets of fish food only (like Zoo Med Micro Floating Betta Pellets). Not for use with flaked foods or larger pellets that can not fit through the small hole on the end of the cone.

Features:

  • Works with small pellets of fish food only
  • Mounts directly to side of tank, or use the enclosed rail kit for round bowls and other tanks
  • Free sample of betta food included
  • Uses one AA battery (included)

Based on a the usual AA battery powered clock design, yet somehow it only feeds once per 24hours

It's a bit big for a single fish since many people do not give a single betta that large of a bowl! We put the adjustable legs back and clamped it to the side of our hex shaped bowl. The rubber that was on the clamp was destroyed out of the box - someone/somethign had cracked the screw so tight that it destroyed the soft rubber foot. But it stays just fine.
It only drops a few round pellets at a time, which is great, but... despite appearing to be yet another feeder based on a AA powered clock module, it only feeds once every 24 hours. I expected it to rotate like the hour hand and feed twice per day. I suppose it keeps the tank clean longer but our little guy eats more than 4 pellets in 24 hours!

Good idea for the purpose, it just needs more development work. I am never sure if it feeds the fish or not, so I am feeding the fish as well every 2 days just in case. A notification if it ever fails would be nice.

In the past I had bad results with "vacation feeders" so I tested this product on an empty drinking glass first. It work as promised. I couldn't be happier.
Pros
  • Easy to mount on tank and battery compartment isn't difficult to open.
Cons
  • Opening the food chamber is hard to do.

Interesting auto feeder

This is a pretty cool idea for someone like myself who just needs their betta fed once a day while I'm gone for a few days - no programming, just install the battery, fill it at the time you want the fish fed and connect it to the container
Pros
  • It's ease of use
Cons
  • Be careful of the tiny tabs that hold the ball mechanism together - I've already broken one off getting the thing apart but the other two still hold it together
