Love this stuff!

The fact is, short of bringing in an exterminator, getting a serious flea infestation under control takes awhile - the wonderful thing about Vet's Best Flea & Tick spray is that it does work and it smells good - not like a can of chemicals. If you're not a fan of mint, you might not like it - but it's still a heck of a lot better than any of the chemical options and I don't have to feel like I'm setting myself or the critters up for lung cancer.

I use it daily - and in the summer, I spray furniture and carpet in the morning and evening & dog bedding about an hour before bed time. As dogs are allowed on the bed, I also use it on covers, blankets, and mattress when I change the sheets. As my vet points out: the key to flea control is controlling the environment...with vacuuming and Vet's Best, I can do this.

Vet's Best Flea Spray
November 28, 2015
I have 5 dogs ranging in sizes from 7 lbs to approx 120lbs. Giving chewable flea treatment proves to be too costly given my finances so I've been looking for an effective and cost effective treatment.
I came across this product at a national known pet store but with the number of dogs that I have and need to treat adequately, the 16oz bottle of Vet's Best Tick Flea Spray that sold for right at $16.48 a bottle just wasn't enough and to pay twice that to get a 32oz bottle seems too expensive so I did my online search and found Petguys. Here I could get the much needed 32oz bottle and paid the same price that the national pet store sells their 16oz bottle for. What a relief to find this.
Pros
  • The sprayer on this 32oz bottle is much easier to use than a pump spray which wears my finger out before I'm done spraying my dogs.
  • A little bit seems to go a long ways.
  • With the Peppermint and Clove combination, people can come into my home and don't even know that I have sprayed my dogs for fleas and they think I have sprayed an air freshener or am burning a candle.
Cons
  • I haven't really found any "cons" to this product. I simply love it.

Smells great and kills those buggies!
June 5, 2015
If you are like me you HATE fleas, well this is a NATURAL way to kill them on contact. Just grab a handful and smother your cat/dog with LOVE. It's a bit tougher with medium or long hair animals because you have to get right down to the skin with your fingertips and still have some of the stuff on you.

I spray it liberally all over my bedding, their bedding, couches, rugs, everything.
Pros
  • smells great
  • works
Cons
  • tough to apply to long hair animals

Great product and flea deterrent
May 1, 2015
We thought we might try this spray out, as the fleas still seem to get to our dog even through Frontline here in Virginia. I like the natural ingredients in this product, peppermint oil, clove, etc. Seems to work great- spray it on his fur a few times per week, massage it into his coat and skin, and that's it. Has a nice smell of peppermint and cloves too. Another thing- it appears to have a bad taste to our dog and it helped stop him from biting on his itchy spots.
Highly recommended!!
Pros
  • Works well
  • Nice smell

March 16, 2015
This stuff is amazing. Petguys.com sells it for a greaatt price! It works amazingly well and it doesn't have any harsh chemical smells or hurt/irritate my dog! Not many people know of Vets Best but I believe everyone should have a bottle or two of this stuff on hand at all times! Def. The best kept secret around and best product for fleas I have come across thus far!
Pros
  • Everything about it!
Cons
  • Absolutely NOTHING! I CANNOT praise this stuff enough!

Dramatic improvement against fleas
September 24, 2014
First off, let me say this. NO flea killing product out there is going to allow you to throw away your flea comb. Unless you own a chow or other very flea resistant breed, best friends are going to get fleas on them to some degree even with the yard sprayed. You are going to have to perform routine maintenance one way or the other. Using Vet's Best sure cuts way down on the work. Our dogs and cats don't mind the spray, it's so much faster going through the dogs for a skin check. Especially long haired breeds. And all of mine are.
One of my cocker spaniels is a super flea magnet. Comb him out, let him go outside to pee, recomb him and find a while new battalion of fleas on him with a freshly sprayed yard. Any flea chemical killer has it's effect but he always gets some because he likes to visit the neighbor's cats when he can get away with it and that person doesn't spray his yard.
Turned the dog over on the table and it looks like shift change at a factory. Fleas running everywhere. Very hard to get them with the best of combs. Tried the Vet's Best Flea and Tick spray. Gave him a quick spritz across several times to get everything damp but not soaking wet. Amazing. Instant dead fleas. Comb those out at leisure and no chasing the herd around and around the dog with the comb.
Problem is, with 6 dogs and 3 cats, Vet's Best by itself required use every day and some combing, but still far better than chemical killer by itself. The BEST results were attained by still using a Fipronil product backed up with a spritz where ever fleas like the dog the most.
Still summer here, a quick spray with Vet's Best and a quick comb out and I'm done with a dog usually in less than 5 minutes. That is worth this product without the continual comb chase and quick reflex smash routine which is stressful for the dog or cat and me. During the winter we are hoping to use Vet's Best alone maybe every other day because it rarely freezes for any time here which promotes flea problems year round.
Any product is going to have it's drawbacks. This being a natural product, it washes off. You would want it to for the pet's health. It is a short term tool, meaning reuse is necessary. Expect to do a little work for your best friends, but this product sure saves a lot of wear and tear on me and the pets. It is well worth the money.
Not to mention spritzing the animal's bedding and frequented spots.
Pros
  • Definitely reduces number of fleas, Reduces flea combing time and work a great deal. Being natural, I'm not concerned about getting my hands wet or any damage to my animals. Leaves the pet with a nice clean fragrance. My animals are less stressed all around. Doesn't leave a nasty residue. Helps my animals with sensitive skin to flea bites feeling much better and far less welts, if any. So far, a 32 ounce bottle has gone a long way.
Cons
  • It isn't going to last on the animal very long, a couple of days. But reuse is quick and simple pets don't fight it.

THIS SPRAY WORKS ON FLEAS!
July 11, 2014
I tested this stuff out. I got a flea and put it in my bathroom sink and then sprayed a tiny bit on it. I figured it was either going to die or dry off and jump away. I checked back in a couple of hours and the flea was there dead.
Pros
  • It does what is described for the pet, furniture and even repels misqitos from me. I wish I had found this stuff earlier before I wasted my money on other product that was not effective. Now my two cats and dog are on Comfortis and regular checks and doggie gets flea baths as well. This caught me of guard because I never had trouble with fleas like this. The fleas are bad this year.
Cons
  • You must use a flea comb and this spray and get the fleas off. After spraying ( a little) and rubbing it in ALL over the dog's or cat's body, you need to start picking off the fleas with a flea comb once they start coming to the surface, which they will. I had a bad infestation and took over $300 of product, sweat and hard work to get rid of the fleas for my 2 cats and dogs. It was every day intervention until I could get it under control. I used powder for carpets, fogger and this stuff plus 2 and 3 times a day flea baths for my pooch until we were all exhausted.

Great product
October 22, 2013
This is a great product. I've NEVER had fleas in the 20 years I've had pets (indoor). My neighbor came over for coffee with his dog. I asked what brought him over and he said, " I'm having my house bombed for fleas", so, he and his dog also brought the fleas. Realized it after a month when my poor Stubby had them all over him. Had my house bombed and ordered products for him. When I read the labels and it says, " if you get it on your skin, wash for 20 minutes, I wasn't putting on him. I found Vet's and it's all natural. Kills them and spraying on the carpets helps a lot. I can't recommend it enough. PERFECT. Guess who's banned from my house?
Pros
  • Great product. Natural. Works very well. I can spray it directly on my pet. It does kill the fleas. I like the smell also.
Cons
  • I like everything.

Suprisingly good product & great on humans too
May 17, 2012
I was very happily surprised this flea/tick stray works well. It is basically just peppermint oil & clove extract... totally free of dangerous chemicals. It definitely does kill the buggers pretty fast, 30 seconds to 5 minutes. This year, 2012, we are just infested with fleas & no-see-ums. My poor dog is in absolute misery. I have done everything known to REPEL the buggers using a topical med too (topicals typically do not repel, only kills after biting). This product really works under the following conditions:
- Saturate the dog/animal with this product. Don't miss a spot on their body if you want 100% protection (same as DEET).
- Apply the product at least daily but if your animal is mostly outdoors apply at least twice/day.
- SHAKE the product well!!!!! or it won't work as well.
- After spraying product on the hair/fur, vigorously rub into the skin for the best results.
- Daily comb (with a flea comb) & brush your animal WELL before applying more than 2 applications. This is necessary to rid the dead insects, residue on the skin, & hair/fur so that the next application will saturate/penetrate the hair/fur & skin well. Your animal will like it better if the residue is removed. The residue builds up fast & it feels awful to the touch. By combing & brushing well, removing residue, he/she won't scratch the existing bites as much either.
- It SEEMS after applying the product my dog does NOT scratch as much for about 2 to 4 hours but I am not possitive about that.
- This product can be used in conjunction with monthly topical flea & tick meds. NOTE: Chemical containing meds/products should NOT EVER be used with topical meds (i.e. Frontline type products). This product can be used with a topical safely, smells good, & it works!!!!!

I will use & keep this product for myself even after I finally find a topical that works for my dog, which is in so much misery right now. I am also highly allergic to bug bites & this product works well for me. I was in a mosquito & tick infested mountain area today & I don't have one bite on me. It sure beats OFF or Deet... with dangerous chemical(s) that stinks something awful. Plus using Vets+Best I smell really good with NO icky feeling on my skin or my clothes.

NOTE: This product would get a 10 STAR rating from me if my DISLIKES were resolved. I will not be without Vet's+Best in my medicine cabinet.
Pros
  • - It works extremely WELL when used as described in my review. It kills & repels those buggers fast, even mosquitoes & no-see-ums.
  • - It works well on humans too with NO side effects or residue. The skin feels soft & it feels good - better than nothing on.
  • - It is safe for all animals & humans.
  • - It smells good.
  • - It doesn't harm clothing, carpets or furniture whatsoever.
  • - My dog seems like she doesn't scratch existing bites as much for 2-4 hours (??? unsure about this).
Cons
  • - My dog hates the process of application BUT loves the results. My dog actually wakes me up to comb her & apply all the flea & tick meds I put on her when she is scratching insatiably.
  • - Very expensive for the number of applications/bottle.
  • - I wish each application lasted longer than 6-12 hours when used in lengthy outside exposure. But compare Vet's to Deet, Deet works for about the same length of time too.
