Lee's Undergravel Filter is the key to providing a strong biological filtration system. Placed on the bottom surface of the aquarium, the filter plates utilize the gravel bed as a source of surface area and provide oxygen by recirculating the water down through the media and up through the uplift tubes. Designed with adjustable 1" uplift tubes for better water circulation. Multiple plate construction for easy installation. Includes airline diffusers and carbon cartridges and has a fish-saver feature. Advance design allows separate plate installation and features optional flow-thru set-up which can be used with a power head. Made of special quality plastic which resists splitting and cracking. Contains three each: under gravel plates, connector rings, uplift tube assemblies, airline tubing with connectors, air diffusers with connectors and disposable carbon cartridges. For use in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. For 20S gallon aquariums 10" x 30".

I had aquariums from the time I was 6 or 7 years old, and its been at least 25 without due to life... Love that these filters are still around like the old days after getting back into aquariums for us old school timers. The PetGuys are great and getting replacement cartridges from them are the least costly hands down over Amazon or anyone else.

Although I haven't had a chance to use it yet it seems to be all there and in good working order. Arrived quickly and was packaged well. I'll update review at a later date when I actually have time to use it.

Works perfectly in my 2.5 gal tanks

I bought 3 of these to use in my 2.5 gal tanks that I use for my hermit crabs. I wanted to experiment using an under-gravel filter to see if it helps improve water quality long-term. I paired it with a separate carbon filter as well. I have these tanks sunken into the substrate so the hermit crabs have easy access to them. It makes it a little harder to remove monthly to clean. I'm hoping that the under gravel filters help to create the biotic conditions for breaking down materials more naturally, without having to remove the tanks.
Pros
- Easy to assemble. Fits perfectly in the 2.5 gal Aqueon tanks.
Cons
- It was a little too tall so I did have to cut part of the rigid plastic tubing with a saw.
- I did not use the carbon filters that come with the product. The water was just trying to shoot out the top and it created too much of a splash. You have to be really careful with water in a hermit crab tank. If the substrate gets too wet, it can be dangerous for molting crabs.

Great filter

Good filter solution for 2.5 gal aquariums. A lot better setup for individual guppy brood tanks than using a small breeder box. Plant the tank well for the new babies to hide. Remove the mother after she is through dropping babies. Then raise the babies in this tank until they are large enough to be moved to a larger tank or the display tank.

Under gravel filtration system

This is the second time I've ordered an under gravel filtration system from Petguys for one of my fish tanks. They are such a good company, not only do I receive my product from them faster than any other company I've ordered from but their prices are outstanding. I will always order my fish tank products from them and I recommend them to everyone because they will not let you down. Great company!

I have used undergravel filters in a number of aquariums and liked them. However the aquariums have all been 20 gallons or larger. This filter is not the same. The air stones sent plenty of bubbles but they didn't exit through the charcoal filter. They just rode over the top. The bubbles were very loud popping on the surface as well. I am not using the filter.

Great Filter easy to assemble. The tubes are adjustable for height. Puts you in control of the flow by adjusting the air (simple, inexpensive air valve needed to control air flow not included ) Your betta or other long finned fish will simply love it. You get biological and carbon filtration all in one. The shipment did get put on back order. But that being said, they did a good job all around.
