Fits well. We did need to saw about an inch off just to make sure it stayed under the water level. Not sure how to tell if it's working though.

Overall, we are very happy with this item....... I cut the tube shorter to accommodate the height of our bowl....... and also removed the charcoal filter and added one from Petco...... and bought an air pump I didn't realize I needed..... lol

You can clearly see that there is a piece that's sticking up on the bottom. My guess, that's where the tubing goes for a pump. Why complain about something that's $5?

There is no air pump and no air hose included. I sorta didn't expect th air pump to be included because it was a low price for the filter. But, I zoomed in on the box and the printing on there said something about how it aerates the water, so I thought maybe there was a small one in the box. There wasn't. The instructions aren't even very clear on the fact that you need to attach an air pump. Once I got it installed, and attached the air pump (not included) to the air hose (not included), it seems to be working just fine. As a side note, the cartridges need to be rinsed really well before use or they will cloud the water pretty bad.

- This was the only small under gravel filter I could find for the small hex beta bowl I have.
- Inexpensive.
- The little plant is a nice touch
