Great Cat Door
March 11, 2021
The cat door is great although it arrived with a broken wire so it didn't work. Luckily the manufacturer was quick to send us a new part. Sad that this was not tested or checked out previously.

The symbols on the door frame about how the door operates are all the information you get. I had to call the US distributor to find out how to de-activate the magnetic door. I may need it in the future, but not now.

Cat Mate Electro-magnetic cat door
January 21, 2014
Works well, but my cats don't like, and won't wear, the magnet. Therefore I had to bypass the magnet feature, by opening the fascia and sticking a piece of rolled up index card between the magnet operated bar and the top of the frame. Since the magnet lock is disengaged, I have to lock it at night to prevent raccoons, and my cats, from entering. But I can't think of a different method of ensuring which animals come through and which other ones don't.
Pros
  • It works great and looks good.
Cons
  • The cumbersome magnet the cat is supposed to wear.

Cat Mate electromagnetic cat door

Door was a little larger than previous door, but very simple to install. Cat has been using a door for several years, but we started getting a visitor so decided to go to an electronic door. My cat was a little skittish about the door because of the noise it made. She wouldn't come thru at first. Also, the door electromagnet kept shutting off as she was trying to decide if she was going to come in. I also noticed that the door did not swing shut totally. I am watching that to try to determine what is happening.
Pros
  • Ease of install.
Cons
  • Door magnet does not stay latched open. Suggest a timer to hold the magnet until the cat can get in.

Locking Cat door
November 21, 2012
Cats are taking a little time to get acclimated to the door but it works well.
Pros
  • Keeps the cold air and other critters out.
Cons
  • The magnetic keys should have non magnetic rings holding them. They keep hanging up on the rings and not dangling like they should.

cat door

this door is great. It was easy to install, and works like a charm. I was alittle apprehensive in the beginning bc I installed it in the cellar window where I had previously installed a plain door w/o a lock. But raccoons had me change that door, lol. My cats don't like collars so I was worried they won't conform, but it worked out perfectly. Took about a week for them to adjust to the magnetic opener timing. I had opened the door w/ tape so they would go thru it. and kept making the open space smaller until it was finely closed. I would suggest buying extra magnetic tags in case ur cats loose their collars.

My son constructed a board the same width as my double hung window with a cutout the size of the Cat Door. Easy to replace when needed. I have a desk outside for my cat to be able to access the door but discourages neighbor pets from following through. Just an idea that Cat Mate might come up with an expandable piece for others that would like to access a window opening.

Just what I needed

I attached this door to the side of a big Rubbermaid box so only one of the three cats in the household could graze on her food instead of being fed at specific times. The price at this website was awesome and I received the package very fast.
