Outward Hound Fun Feeder Slow Feed Dog Bowl is a natural, healthy, and playful solution for dogs that gobble their kibble too quickly. This nature-inspired design promotes natural eating habits by requiring dogs to forage for their feasts. Moreover, by prolonging feeding times, Fun Feeder reduces the risk for bloating, regurgitation, and canine obesity. Dogs quickly learn to “chase” their food through a maze of ridges and valleys, making dinner time feel more like a hunt. And, because the Fun Feeder “rewards” their play with bits of food, furry friends become more and more engaged as the meal goes on. Holds up to 4 cups of dry dog food. Dimensions: 11"L x 11"W x 2.25"H.

Features:

  • Prevents bloating, regurgitation and canine obesity
  • Keeps pups engaged for up to 10x longer at chow time
  • Improves digestion while helping your pet eat at a fun, healthy pace
  • Made with high quality, food-safe ABS plastic
  • Slip-resistant base prevents sliding and for spillage
  • Top rack dishwasher safe
  • BPA, PVC and phthalate free

too slow
June 30, 2015
tried this with my mini dachshund and after 15 min. I finally had to help him get to the food. Also tried it on a 6 lb dog and she couldn't get to the food either. Won't use it again because they got too frustrated trying to eat.
Pros
  • Will definitely keep your dog from gobbling down their food!
Cons
  • Grooves not big enough for their snout.

works well

Tried this on our gluttonous Dalmatian - he wolfs down his food and gags. It causes him to eat much more slowly. He gets a little frustrated and looks at me to help him - he'll learn as time goes on.
Pros
  • durable

Beats using a Kong
December 20, 2014
For 10 years I used a Kong to feed my Husky because he ate too fast. The Slo-Bowl Flower has worked wonderful for him. Takes a lot longer for him to eat and keeps him from begging as soon as I sit down. Wish I has seen this 10 years ago.
Pros
  • Easy to use and entertaining for the dog to eat from.
Cons
  • None.

It really works!
November 16, 2014
Tried everything to slow down a voracious eater, nothing worked till I found this Kyjen Slo-Bowl feeder. I do not have a dishwasher so the only issue I have with it is washing it, but considering how well it works that is a very small price to pay. PetGuys.com shipped very quickly and me and my dog are delighted!
Pros
  • Really works - has slowed her eating significantly
Cons
  • Requires a lot of attention to hand wash

Excellent dog bowl. My dog went from 30 seconds eating his food to 12 minutes. Love the dish. I would recommend to anyone.

Works to slow dogs down!
October 23, 2014
My dogs scarf their dinner down fast. This has helped in making the meal last longer (10-15min) than the 1 min it did take. They seem to enjoy working to get their dinner and has cut down on gas as well. I currently feed 2 cups of larger kibble out of it and it will hold more than that for sure.
Pros
  • Slows food intake down and gives mental stimulation.
Cons
  • Hard to hand wash.

Makes dogs eat slowly!
July 16, 2014
I have four dogs, medium sized (40-65 lbs). My biggest dog eats slowly, my three smaller dogs inhale their food; I wanted to allow my biggest to eat without feeling rushed by the others. I bought all three round SloBowl designs (drop, coral, flower) for my three smaller dogs. All of the bowls work well. All three bowls are the same diameter (~11"), all three hold about 1L (~4 cups) of liquid; however, they are not all the same height. I feed about 2 cups of kibble, plus treats and soup, which all fits nicely into the bowls. The "Drop" is the tallest, the "Flower" is the most shallow. Despite the differences, all three designs make feeding take about the same amount of time. The dogs would suck up their meals in less than 2 minutes, now it takes them more than 10 minutes. The "Flower" is the best of the three patterns, in my opinion. When washing, it will give you some mental exercise making sure you wiped every surface.
Pros
  • slow feeding
Cons
  • requires more storage space than ordinary bowl

Best food bowl ever
April 24, 2014
Having a weimaraner - a breed proned to bloat - it is really important for us to slow down the eating. I bought a different type of bowl last year which slowed down Inga's eating from 8 seconds to 30 second. With Kyjen slo-bowl, her eating time has increased to 4 minutes! It is the best bowl ever! Plus Inga loves to look for all the kebbles :)
Pros
  • Small compartment that slows down the inhaling of food.
Cons
  • Nothing.

A pink flower for your dog to dive into. All of the twists, turns and crevices really slow my girl down!

Best one out there!
April 12, 2014
I have been through so many bowls, this one really works. My dogs are prone to bloat so I am so relieved that they now have to take their time and won't die just form eating dinner! Reduced meal time from 1 or 2 minutes to 7 or 8 for Basset hounds.
Pros
  • Slows them down but not impossible like the orange spiral.
Cons
  • None

Great Dish
March 15, 2014
LOVED IT- Cannot say enough about this dish! Needed it for a rescue pup who just inhaled her food. She now takes between 7-8 minutes for her 1/3 cup serving. Beats the heck out of the 30 seconds she was averaging before. Short-snouted dogs may have issues but not with our chihuahua. Best price anywhere too! THANKS!!!
Pros
  • Dishwasher safe (No heat dry if on lover rack)
  • Sturdy, non-slip grip, Easier to clean if you use a baby-bottle brush to get grooves
Cons
  • none I can think of

Works AND makes us laugh!
March 7, 2014
It has been quite entertaining watching my dog eat out of this bowl! She typically eats a cup of food in about three swallows without chewing, so this has been perfect for slowing her down. She can't stand in one spot while eating, she has to walk in circles! This was a great buy.
Pros
  • Sturdy
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Actually slows down my dog

Works as advertised
February 22, 2014
Slowed down my German Shepherd who usually inhaled her food in less than a minute. Took her about 10 minutes the first few times and then figured it out. Still takes her 5-6 minutes compared to the <60 seconds previously. Has not been able to flip it over either. It's also entertaining watching her try to eat out of the individual nooks and crannies. I mix a little wet food in with the kibble - usually just put in the larger nooks around the edge. Alternate with the Coral spiral bowl just to mix things up between the two dogs. Both work the same.
Pros
  • Solid construction
  • Dishwasher safe
