The Dog Twister Interactive Game Toy has been designed by Nina Ottosson as a game you and your dog can play together. The idea behind the Dog Twister is for your dog to dislodge the removable bone, then slide the top covers to access the treats hidden inside. You may choose to put treats in one, several or all the compartments, depending on your dog's experience and enthusiasm for the game. With a little practice, he will soon learn to dislodge the bone and slide the cover to access the hidden rewards. By gradually reducing the number of treats, you can encourage him to work harder for rewards. To ensure safety, the durable plastic has no sharp edges, is non-toxic and dishwasher safe. Dog Twister's skill level is Hard. Shipping weight: 3 lbs.

Very entertaining
January 16, 2013
This is a good game for a dog that likes to work for his treats. Treats can be hidden in 20 places, which gives lots of time looking. The dog first has to figure out how to remove the bones from the holes that controls the spinning of the wheel. This can be easily accomplished by putting the bone sideways or putting a treat under the side of the bone so he can smell and pick it up. The nice thing is that you can use 1 bone or 10 bones to increase the time the dogs works at it. The dog also has to move his body around the game, so they is a lot going on for the treat hunting.
Pros:
Good variety to determine level of difficulty. Can use 1-10 bones, or even no bones. Easy to get dog interested in finding treats because you can place them so he has quick success and wants to continue for more. Very sturdy and dog cannot tip over to try and dump treats.
Cons:
It would be better design if top had little holes so dog could sniff and figure out there is a treat underneath the compartment.

Trickier than it looks
July 10, 2012
This game doesn't look hard but it took a few times for my 11.5 year old Collie/Golden to get the hang of it. I wouldn't recommend starting a dog on this game....it's a little difficult & they could get discouraged & give up. But if your dog is food motivated & determined that does help a lot. It's fun to watch them figure out what works & what doesn't.
Pros:
It's very durable. It really makes the dog think.
Cons:
Nothing.

Fun Treat Game
June 3, 2012
Of the 3 Nina Ottoson games I got for my collie who is recovering from surgery, this was the last one we tried. I set it down for her at it's hardest level and she still got it solved fairly quickly. It keeps her entertained for a little while. It's a two step procedure puzzle. I have to make sure she doesn't treat the bones as a chew toy. This is a level 3 puzzle, the hardest. I tried several other puzzles and she solved them in under 5 minutes. The Kyjen were much too easy for her and the Nina Ottosson Dog Finder was better but she still had it solved in under 10 minutes with no training and at it's hardest level the first time. I think this one is easier than the Dog Casino but since she had learned the remove the bone first concept already, she got this one figured out faster than she would have if it were the first of this type to try. It got her very excited after solving it. When she tries to dump it over, I stop her and put my foot on the puzzle to keep her from that trick. As she learns the puzzle, she has less interest in chewing the removable bones. The only problem with this one is that the dog can "cheat" and lick out the treat before removing all the bones by using her tongue on the partially open tray. If she weren't so smart, I guess that would be encouraging rather than a shortcut. I sure don't have to train my dog as the instructions say.
Pros:
Provides some challenge to the smart dog
Cons:
Have to watch the dog to keep it from chewing up the bones Gets covered in saliva Treats can be gotten when only a little open by licking it out of the tray

Good interactive fun

This product, as with all of Nina Ottosonson's puzzles, is a great, fun way to challenge my dog's energy and focus his attention with something in addition to physical exercise and games. Building from the easier puzzles to the more challenging like this one works well. We prefer the plastic (like this) to the wooden puzzles for durability and ease of cleaning. And the price here was very reasonable.
Pros:
Can vary the level of challenge
Cons:
Takes a while to dry of you really submerge in water to clean thoroughly....not a big deal, really.

Fun for me and my dog!
January 31, 2012
I bought this game at the same time I bought the Dog Brick Interactive Game. My dog loves the brick game (which appears a bit easier to learn) but is also starting to get the hang of this twister game. It definitely takes some thought and is great on a rainy day when my dog is bored. It is a lot of fun to watch her learn and become more confident. The video's that come with the game are a must as they show you how to introduce the game to your dog in a easy and fun way.
Pros:
Very durable--will last for years! Fun, entertaining for you and your dog, easy to follow instruction video included.
Cons:
Price is a bit steep but worth it

My dog is totally uninterested in this game. I have tried for a week to get him interested, filling the tray with food he loves but no response. I would like to return the item.
Pros:
It seems like a fun game for the right dog
Cons:
My dog has no interest in the game

Great Toy!
January 27, 2012
I is fun watching my dogs try to get the treats from each compartment. We haven't gone to the next level yet but it should be interesting. This toy really helps older dogs keep their mind active & great fun for the younger dogs as well. The price is great as well from this site.

Dog Twister Interactive Dog Game Toy
January 6, 2012
We purchased both this and the "tornado". The Tornado is easier and as it turns out is a great start to get the "game" down. We have not yet put the bones in the twister but will soon. Actually the "bones" in the Tornado will help greatly in getting the idea across on how to remove the bones in the twister.
Pros:
great fun for all of us. Chewey, our lab, can't wait for the games to start which we do almost every night. We use pop corn as the treat as it is low in calories and loved by the dog.
Cons:
this is not a "dislike" but more of a suggestion. The other game we have, the Tornado, also has bones. In that game there are holes in the "bones" and after our dog had problems removing the bone from the game without destroying it, I put a small string in the hole and it makes it easy for her to remove it from the game.

Easier than Casino
December 29, 2011
Love Nina's puzzles. We have four of them and my 4 yo labradoodle loves all. This one is not as challenging as casino but harder than tornado if you're deciding of which of the toys to purchase. My dog still needs to play with only few of the bones placed on the board. He gets so excited when he sees that I'm setting it up
Pros:
all of it easy to clean more challenging than tornado but easier than casino
Cons:
none. Pet guys have the best prices for Nina's puzzles. don't go anywhere else!

Dog Twister
August 5, 2011
Our dog figured out the first part of the puzzle in about an hour. Now it takes him less than a minute to open all the sections. He gets very excited when he sees me bring it out. We will introduce the "bones" part gradually. I think this will be more of a challenge for him, but he does love this toy!
Pros:
It's well made, we have a chow mix who can rip apart almost anything, so it takes the "pawing and mouthing" he gives it. He's actually having to think to solve the puzzle.
Cons:
So far, nothing. We'll see how he does when the bones are introduced. I think after he learns this part, I'll have to watch so the bones aren't chewed up.
